PM Calls on Labor Ministry to Find Solution for Unemployed Factory Workers

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen has ordered the Ministry of Labor and other stakeholders to help resolve the issues faced by unemployed factory workers to help alleviate the risks they face without a source of income.

The Prime Minister proposed a social support system where the state provides US $30 a month to the unemployed factory workers, while factory owners should provide US $40 a month to factory workers that were let go from their jobs. This is the same response measure that was put in place during the Covid-19 outbreak in 2021.

The Prime Minister made these remarks during the graduation ceremony of students of the Institute of New Khmer students on Monday morning, 6 March 2023.
